First edition (editio princeps) of the New Testament in Greek, with the new Latin translation of Erasmus, in double columns. This 1516 Greek New Testament is the first published edition of the New Testament in the original Greek; the Complutensian Polyglot was printed before this book but published afterwards.

Collates textually complete but wanting preliminaries aaa6, bbb8. TEXT: A-Z6, AA-DD6 [Gospels and Acts]; a-h6, l9, k-s6, t1-[5][Romans through Apocalypse]; [t5] is colophon leaf "Finis Testamenti…D. Erasmi Roterdami."; [t6], blank, excised as expected. Printer’s error: g2 mis-signed g3. Woodcut ornamental headpieces and initials throughout. A beautiful printing.

Some ink notes have been washed.

A lovely, clean, nicely-margined copy of one of the most important Bibles ever printed.
