Description

1611 King James Pulpit Folio First Edition “He” Bible

This is the very first printing of the King James Bible, referred to as the “First Edition First Issue”.  Both original title pages are present and dated “1611”. This Bible collates complete with all pages original and present, except for the final page of Revelation which is provided in facsimile. (Please see Bauman write-up as provided in the photo gallery for more collation details and description). The Ruth 3: 15 passage is rendered “He” as expected. The binding is the most elaborate we have ever seen on a 1611 KJV Bible.

This extremely rare example of the first press run of history’s most printed and most loved and most influential book was last offered for sale in 2007 for $210,000, and actually sold that year for $180,000, (which is at least $275,000 or more in 2024 dollars), as shown on the receipt which the buyer received from famous bookshop Bauman Rare Books in New York City.  This means the current 2024 asking price of just $149,000 as part of an estate liquidation is close to HALF of what this magnificent treasure sold for 17 years ago, making this an astoundingly great value for the astute collector or investor.
