The first English Bible to have verse numeration. The first English Bible in Roman font. Collation: lacks ***4; lacks a.i.; a.ii-a.iiii; b-z4; A-Z4 (M.ii and iii genuine, supplied); Aa-Zz4; &6; Aaa-Zaa4 (Lll.i genuine but supplied); Aaaa-Zzzz4; Aaaaa-Bbbbb4; AA-ZZ4; AAa-Iii.iiii (Revelation ends on HHh.ii.[recto].) (originally lacking DDd.i-EEe.iii, now provided, details infra)(lacks gatherings KKk and LLl to end of Second Table, provided in facsimile). Supplied material: *** 1 – 4 have been supplied in facsimile (includes the general title-page); a.i in facsimile; M.ii and M.iii have been supplied from a genuine but much shorter copy, extended, and with some facsimile to headlines; Lll.i. supplied from a shorter copy with headlines and top two lines of text in facsimile; DDd.i supplied from a shorter copy, extended, facsimile headlines a first line recto and verso; DDd.ii provided in facsimile; DDd.iii, DDd.iiii and EEe.i from another copy with some facsimile at heads; EEe.ii in facsimile; EEe.iii supplied from a shorter copy with facsimile at head. Gatherings KKk and LLl provided in facsimile. Map between v.i. and v.ii in Numbers (This mappe properly apperteineth to the 33 Chap of Nombres) is tired, and chipped just into text and border at lower corner, now repaired. Map between C.iii and C.iiii (This mappe doeth apperteine to the Chap. 15 of Ioshua) is a partial map only, severed at fold, with balance provided in facsimile (about half a inch of the right edge); lower margin partially perished; trimmed and now tipped into gutter. Map between Ttt.ii and Ttt.iii (at explicit of Ezekiel) is mostly perished, retaining about a half-page triangle. (The forme of the Temple and the citie restored). Now about one quarter genuine and three quarters in facsimile. Map between [AA.i] and AA.ii (NT title-page and incipit of Matthew) (The description of the holie land and of the places mencioned in the foure Euangelistes) is tired but still quite nice, with some edge repairs. Map between OO.i and OO.ii at incipit of Acts is tired, stained and chipped, but not chipped past border (The description of the countries and places mencioned in the Actes of the Apostles). Two heavy stains to folio 301 (leaf Eee.iii), but text still legible. Xxxx.iiii chipped close to text. VV.ii in I Corinthians with notable hole affecting marginal notes. A lot of edge tiredness, especially toward end. Some general damp, especially to lower edge. Some expected stains and soil. Minor tears/repairs. Some occasional early ink notes in Greek, Latin and English, more frequent in the New Testament. Modern full calf by Starr Bookworks of Arizona. Marbled endpapers. Herbert 107. Darlow and Moule 77.
