Bunyan stridently and effectively expounds upon the most significant of the Reformation theological tenets and defends the Church of England’s 10th, 11th, and 13th articles of the Thirty-Nine Articles against perceived Quakerism and Romanism as expressed in Fowler’s Design of Christianity. Written by Bunyan in late 1671, while imprisoned for his beliefs.
Fine modern half-light calf over feathered boards by Riviere (with matching feathered endpapers; spine finely gilt. All edges are gilt. Three bookplates, front and back endpapers, including the prestigious ex-libris of the Bible Collection of Jonathan Byrd. Some inoffensive tiredness and repair too early and late leaves. Overall very fresh.
